Steve Margolis with StarCon General Contractors, just finished a complete remodel for me in Malibu. Steve Margolis is the only contractor (and I’ve completed over twenty five projects over  a few decades with various other contractors) that actually uses this thing called a brain.  He genuinely cares and will always do the right thing by putting his customer before the almighty dollar!  It is so rare to find a honest contractor and Steve is!  Steve’s design sense is second to none and his execution is flawless.

Steve Margolis and his right hand man, Gary Murphy, are the best.  They renovated our home in Malibu.  It started as a relatively straightforward project, but turned much more complicated as we added renovations and as we discovered problems that the pre-purchase inspection failed to uncover.  Rather than take advantage of the situation, Steve and Gary went out of their way to keep costs under control.  The quality of the work was first rate.  Just as importantly, they are both genuinely nice, decent, hard working men.  And their subcontractors invariably were as well.  What more could one want from a GC?  I recommend them without qualification.

Steve Margolis and StarCon rebuilt and expanded our beach house in Ventura entirely to our specifications, working with us through a complicated permit process but sticking with us throughout the project and seeing it to completion. The result exceeded our expectations in every way.

The project was not without its twists and turns and challenges (unbeknownst to us, the city required a lengthy historical review), but Steve continuously kept us updated with the progress and made valuable suggestions. His team, led by Project Manager Gary Murphy, was composed of long-experienced and highly skilled professionals, dedicated to first-rate craftsmanship. And the subcontractors that Steve brought in had long histories working with him and were all top notch.

Well, Steve had a wonderful Thanksgiving, cooking up a storm in our new kitchen!
We just love it!

Remodeling can be quite a strain, but you and your crew helped make the process a bit easier. They were great at their jobs, consummate professionals, always cleaned up nicely after themselves, and were so pleasant to have around. Even my dogs liked them!

Were there problems? Sure, aren’t there always? But when we called, you answered, and problems were fixed. (I know we’re pretty easy to work with, but if everyone just goes into a remodeling job with the right attitude, life is so much easier!)

Anyway, we are thrilled with the final product and are ready to move on …. To the rest of the house!!
